To change the amount of space that IE uses to store temporary Internet files, you typically open the IE Tools menu, select Internet Options, select the General tab,
then click Settings under the "Temporary Internet files" section. However, you can also adjust this setting in the registry by performing the following steps:
Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
Navigate to the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content registry subkey.
Double-click CacheLimit, change the Base to Decimal, enter the amount of space you want to use for
temporary Internet files (in kilobytes) in the "Value data" field, then click OK.
Navigate to the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\Content registry subkey.
Double-click CacheLimit, change the Base to Decimal, enter the same value you entered in Step 3, then click OK.
Close the registry editor.
The next time that IE starts, it will use the new size for the Temporary Internet Files folder.
